Mesut Ozil missed Chelsea clash due to muscle injury

- Arsenal will be hoping to pick up their first away point this season when they face Premier League champions Chelsea on Sunday September 17

 - The Gunners will however have to do without one of their star players Mesut Ozil who is down with a muscle injury

 - Wenger's men have lost both away games already this season (Stoke City and Liverpool)

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil looks set to miss his team’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday September 17.

This follows a report on The Mirror that the German playmaker missed training on Saturday September 16 as a result of a muscle injury.

Ozil sat out the Europa League victory against Cologne with Arsene Wenger saying ahead of that match that he would be 'rested' along with Aaron Ramsey.

But fresh report indicates that Ozil is down with a muscle injury and will play no part in his team’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

However, Arsenal are likely to recall a host of first-team regulars for the short trip, one of which is Alexis Sanchez who played the whole game on Thursday night September 14 in the Europa League and got on the score sheet.

Speaking ahead of the London derby, Wenger has dismissed claims that Arsenal have a mental block away from home after failing to pick no point from two away games already this season.

The Gunners have lost both away games this season, including the 4-0 humiliation at Liverpool. But according to Wenger, the visit to Stamford Bridge has added significance after the defeat at Anfield. He said: “That should be an even greater motivation for us to turn up with an even better performance. “It is very important, of course.

Nobody would deny that. If you calculate the positions in the top four then it will be decided by your results against your direct opponents.” Wenger led Arsenal to an unbeaten season then defended his current side which went unbeaten away in the Premier League for over nine months before the December defeat at Goodison Park.

The Frenchman believes the team still has enough quality to do something similar.
